14. Making Lemonade from Lemons - Summer Fun

Dear Friends,

As a parent, this summer has been one that is unlike any other. Today, I share with you a couple of ways that our family is “making lemonade from lemons” with the hope that perhaps it might inspire some new ideas for your families.

1. Backyard State Fair-a favorite of our family is to go to the Wisconsin State Fair each year. This year, with the cancellation of the fair, our family is hold-ing our own right in our backyard. We have games and prizes (tokens for a scoop of ice cream and get out of a chore free passes). We also have been researching and will be testing out some recipes of things we might have tried at the fair like chicken cordon bleu on a stick and a deep fried brownie.

2. We have mastered making lemonade...literally. We make what we think is the best fresh squeezed lemonade out of 2 cups of lemon juice (fresh from the lemon) 1 ¼ cups simple syrup and then about 6 cups of water.

3. We introduced the kids to a drive in movie. Some local theaters offer drive-in movies right outside their cinema. We are excited for the old classics like Back to the Future and 1984 Ghostbusters.

I pray you all are enjoying new and creative ways to spend the summer and making lemonade.

Blessings!

Holly
