FAMILY PROGRAM

Family Program: Faith In your Shared Home

Families with children through grade 6

The Family Program is designed to support the family as we respond to the Church's call for parents to be the first and foremost educators of their children. Pope Francis's message directs our mission in walking beside your family on our Catholic faith journey.

“The future passes through the family. So protect your families! Families will always have their trials, but may you never add to them! Instead, be living examples of love, forgiveness and care. What a gift this would be to society, if every Christian family lived fully its noble vocation! So rise with Jesus and Mary, and set out on the path the Lord traces for each of you.”

-Pope Francis

This year our programs are focused on both the gift of smaller groups and meeting with individual families. Through this process we hope to strengthen our faith community one family at a time.

With both our Family and Youth programs, you may choose to meet in person or remotely:

  • Face to Face (F2F) - meetings take place at St. Catherine of Alexandria in groups of 10 or less with masks expected.
  • Eye to Eye (E2E) - meetings take place via Zoom. (Please note we encourage a parent be present in the room while a child or youth are online with a Catechist.)

Please note that if our area is required to quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all classes will continue to run in our E2E format.

To support Pope Francis’s message, our Family program is designed with three parts:

Family Catechesis

1 session a month November– June

Families meet with Mary Sue Reutebuch, Director of Christian Formation, to explore the faith needs of your specific family. Each session is creatively designed based on a monthly lesson. Children will then work together at home over the following weeks to dig deeper into the topic.

Children’s Lessons

1 session a month November– June

Children will meet with their grade level class for faith building lessons with their catechist. *Second grade children will receive their sacramental preparation in this time as well.

Family Faith Passport

In addition, each family will receive a Family Faith Passport, offering the family an opportunity to travel through our Catholic faith in each continent!
