Rooted in Faith

I am a full-blooded Norwegian from Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, the self-ascribed “Troll Capital of the World”. I started playing the piano at the age of 4, inspired by my musical parents. I began my years of formal church ministry at age 17, playing the organ at a small Lutheran church in Mount Horeb. I have worked continuously since then as a church music minister, for over 30 years. I graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1987, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Music/Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993.  I have been Director of Liturgy and Music at St. Catherine’s since May 2007, coming from St. Olaf Catholic Church in DeForest, Wisconsin, where I served as Director of Liturgy and Music for nine years. Outside of my church ministry, I have enjoyed singing with choirs and early music ensembles in Madison, and since moving to Oconomowoc, with the Jubilate Chorale. I am also co-founder of the “Enter the Season with Song” Ensemble, which began in Madison in 1992. The group has produced three recordings, and has raised tens of thousands of dollars, through the generosity of concert-goers, to benefit many charitable organizations over the years, with a focus on local charities in need. I feel blessed to be able to use my gifts and education on a daily basis. I also feel blessed to have found a faith community in St. Catherine’s and now St. Joan’s as well, that loves music, sings well, and has made me feel at home, as they have done for so many people over the years, and continue to do each day.
